Leek is peppery in taste and green-white in color. It is consisted of crunchy layers much like onions. Leek contains vitamin C, E, B and carotene. The green part contains much more vitamins that the white one therefore it is recommended to consume the whole thing. There are many minerals, for instance calcium, magnesium, iron, cadmium, phosphorus, selenium and manganese. Not to forget the suplphur containing compounds that encourage the appetite and digestion.
